THIS YEAR: Junior hurdler Kyle Clark is on the cusp of a breakout season ... Is coming off a solid 2010 season in which he has competed in both the NAIA indoor and outdoor championships ... Considered a strong and enduring runner, which is why he excels in the longer races ... Figures to be an option on the relays as well.
2010 (sophomore): Competed in the prelims of the NAIA indoor (600-meters) and outdoor (400-meter hurdles) championships ... Qualified for the 400 hurdle finals at the GSAC Championship but an injury forced him out of the meet ... Posted career-bests of 53.63 (400 hurdles), 49.99 (400-meters) and 1:21.61 (600-meters).
2009 (freshman): Put together a fine 2009 freshman season, coming on strong toward the end of the campaign ... Clocked a career-best 54.26 in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the Occidental Invitational in early May ... At the GSAC Championship Meet in San Diego, finished fourth in the 400 hurdles (55.55) and recorded a career best in the 110 highs (15.91) but did not get out of the prelims ... Ran the second leg on the Cougars GSAC-winning 4x400-meter relay (3:17.24) ... Picked up the javelin for the first time ever and threw the spear 139' 8" to finish 15th at the GSAC meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-sport standout at Whittier (Calif.) Christian High, earning 4 varsity letters in track & field and 3 in football ... In track & field, was the 2008 CIF Division IV champion in the 300-meter hurdles (38.92) ... At the same meet, was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.96) ... Qualified for the CIF Master's Meet and finished eighth (38.60) ... Was the Olympic League champ in the 110 highs (15.94) ... Won the Russell Cup titles in both the 110 highs (16.12) and 300 intermediates (41.23) ... Holds the school record in the 400-meters (49.70) ... As a senior in football rushed for 241 yards on 38 carries (6.3 avg.) and recorded 16 reception for 472 yards (29.5 avg.) ... In all, scored 8 TDs, including a 71-yard catch-and-run in a 28-21 victory at L.A. Baptist High ... Led Alpha League with 8 interceptions as a junior.
